Buy a kit that has everything you need. Instructions, materials, accessories, etc. Everything is supplied, not counting your expertise!
Buy a kit that gives you the necessary information to build your own solar panel, but you procure the materials.

Both of these approaches have their place. If you have no ability whatsoever in making things and have a lot of money, buy the first option: the ready make kit.

However, if you are like most people, buy the second kit. You will get everything you need to know, in order to make your own solar panel. Plus, it will only cost you under $200 to actually do this.
